The dream of working a winter season in the heart of the Pyrenees, saving in euros surrounded by snow and with one of the lowest tax burdens in Europe, is officially underway. The Government of Andorra (Govern d'Andorra) has approved the opening of the temporary immigration quota for the 2026-2027 winter campaign, giving the green light to companies in the Principality to recruit international talent.

However, working in Andorra does not work like a traditional holiday visa where you travel to try your luck on your own. Although there is no age limit to apply, the system requires securing an employer to sponsor your permit ("Green Card"), passing the strict filter of verifiable work experience, and solving the complex puzzle of mountain accommodation. Below, we break down the official distribution of spots and the exact requirements to secure your contract.

Summary Board Official quota distribution by sector

For this winter season, the Council of Ministers has set an initial quota of 5,100 temporary residence and work permits. Furthermore, the government confirmed that this figure may be expanded by an additional 30% depending on labor market needs, reaching a maximum cap of 6,630 authorizations.

🛍️ Commerce and Equipment Rental

Key requirements: The experience filter and the EU rule

Unlike Working Holiday programs, in Andorra it is the hiring company that processes and pays for your permit before the Immigration Service. However, Andorran law applies a strong hiring priority depending on your passport:

  • 🇪🇺 European Union Citizens (Spain, Italy, France, etc.): Enjoy hiring priority and a simplified administrative process. They generally only need to prove at least 1 year of experience in the sector they are applying to, in addition to a clean criminal record.

  • 🌎 Non-EU Citizens (Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, UK, etc.): Face the most rigorous audit. Immigration requires proving a minimum of 2 years of formal work experience in the specific position. Recommendation letters signed by former bosses are not enough; today it is essential to back up that experience with the official social security contribution history from your home country.

Summary Board Mandatory documentation and the housing challenge

If you manage to pass the online interviews with the Human Resources departments of the ski slopes or hotels, your document folder must meet these non-negotiable requirements upon arriving in the Principality:

Consular / Local Requirement

Strict Specification

⚖️ Criminal Records

Original certificate with a completely clean record, issued by your country of origin and residence, legalized with the Hague Apostille (maximum validity of 3 months).

🏠 Proof of Accommodation

The big trap. For Immigration to issue your final permit, you must present a rental contract or proof of address in Andorra. With a saturated real estate market, prioritize companies that offer staff accommodation.

🩺 Medical Check and Bank

Once at the destination, you must pass the mandatory occupational medical exam, open a local bank account in Andorra for your payroll, and register with the CASS (Andorran social security).

✈️ Outbound Ticket

Exclusive for non-EU workers: you are required to present a return flight ticket to your home country with a closed date at the end of the contract.
