The Department of Home Affairs of Australia has confirmed the official calendar for the ballot pre-registration system corresponding to the 2026-2027 program year. This process applies specifically to the Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462) in those jurisdictions where demand vastly exceeds the annual limit of available places.

Key dates and participating nationalities
For this new cycle, the automated ballot system is strictly mandatory for citizens holding passports from China, India, and Vietnam. The registration window will officially open on Thursday, June 4, 2026, and will definitively close on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
It is imperative that candidates enter their intention to apply through their official ImmiAccount within these exact three weeks, having to pay a non-refundable administrative fee of 25 AUD for the right to participate. Once this reception period ends, the system will not accept new registrations until the opening cycle of the following year.
Selection process and subsequent application
Once the registration period closes at the end of June, immigration authorities will begin making automated random selections starting July 2, 2026, and throughout the entire program year. If your profile is drawn, you will receive an official notification and from that moment you will have an unmovable period of 28 calendar days to submit your complete consular file.
At the time of making this formal application after being selected, it is fundamental to remember that there is a transversal and indispensable requirement demanded by the government to approve the application: you must compulsorily demonstrate the possession of a return ticket to your country of origin, or else, irrefutably prove having the additional and sufficient economic funds to acquire said ticket at the end of your experience in Oceania.
To monitor availability in real time, we invite you to check the status of quotas in Oceania. Furthermore, to ensure you have the appropriate support and the most detailed information at every step of your application, we recommend consulting the complete guide on Volare's Australia Working Holiday Visa (WHV).
