Check list of documentation for the Ireland Working Holiday Visa

Updated: 5 hours ago

The platform specialized in exchange programs and visas, Volare, presents a detailed technical guide on the documentation required to apply for the Ireland Working Holiday Visa. Building the file is a critical phase where the accuracy and order of the certificates determine the processing speed before Immigration Service Delivery.

Unlike other European programs, Ireland requires all supporting documentation to be submitted in physical format and, if not originally in English, must be accompanied by a certified official translation.

Mandatory Documentation for all Nationalities

The applicant must gather the following basic requirements before their consular appointment or before sending the file via certified mail:

  • Valid original passport: The booklet is required to have a validity of more than 12 or 15 months from the planned date of entry into Irish territory.

  • WHA application form: Official document printed and signed by hand, accompanied by two recent passport-sized photographs.

  • Criminal Record Certificate: Physical and official document issued by the national authority, with a maximum age of 3 to 6 months.

  • Proof of financial solvency: Original bank statements demonstrating the minimum capital according to the agreement of each country (between 1,500 and 4,000 EUR). Digital prints without the bank's physical stamp are not accepted.

  • Medical and travel insurance: Private policy with comprehensive coverage for the entire duration of the stay (12 or 24 months) including hospitalization and repatriation.

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): Updated version written entirely in English.

  • Proof of payment: Original receipt of the consular fee payment corresponding to the applicant's nationality.

Specifications for the United States and Academic Level

For United States citizens, the application is strictly conditioned on their academic status. In addition to the general documents, they must mandatorily present certified copies of their university degrees or enrollment certificates proving they are full-time post-secondary students or have graduated within the last 12 months. For other nationalities, although it is not an exclusive requirement, it is recommended to attach copies of the last educational certificates achieved to strengthen the candidate's profile.
