Planning a stay in the Kingdom of Sweden requires a clear understanding of the financial investment necessary to successfully complete the administrative process. The associated costs are not limited solely to the government fee but include a series of indispensable external services for the formation of the legal file.

Migration Application Fee
The main cost of the process is the official fee established by the Swedish Migration Agency (Migrationsverket). Currently, the administrative fee for processing the electronic application is 1,500 Swedish Kronor (SEK). This amount must be paid by credit or debit card at the time of submitting the digital form and, as a general rule, is non-refundable, even if the final resolution is unfavorable.
External Expenses and Document Logistics
Beyond the visa fee, the applicant must budget for a series of operational expenses that are fundamental requirements for the validity of the presentation:
Health Protection: The cost of a comprehensive medical insurance policy with repatriation coverage for 365 days, which is mandatory for approval.
Official Translations: Given that all documents must be presented in English or Swedish, the costs of certified translators represent a significant item.
Legal Procedures: Expenses derived from obtaining Hague apostilles on background checks or financial statements.
Logistics and Shipping: Charges for courier services for physical documentation or necessary travel for the biometric appointment.
Consideration of the Ticket and Return Guarantee
A critical element in the travel budget is the accreditation of the means of transport. The regulations require the interested party to demonstrate possession of an already issued return ticket. Alternatively, it must be reliably proven that sufficient additional funds are available to purchase said return ticket at the end of the year of stay, adding this value to the required initial maintenance capital.
Formalization of the Payment
The payment of the 1,500 SEK fee is the final step of the telematic application. Once the payment is confirmed, the file formally enters the Migrationsverket review system. It is important to remember that compliance with the payments does not guarantee the granting of the permit, so it must be ensured that all technical documentation is impeccable.
