This step is not completed at the beginning of the procedure, but is a strictly mandatory action that must be executed once your visa has been evaluated and pre-approved (that is, at the moment you receive your electronic In-Principle Approval or IPA letter). By completing this digital form, the candidate formally declares under oath that they have no criminal convictions or criminal records in their home country or in any other jurisdiction where they have resided.
Zero tolerance and legal consequences
It is of vital importance to proceed with absolute transparency when signing this electronic declaration. The Ministry of Manpower has a zero-tolerance policy regarding criminal records for this type of visa.
If a candidate signs the declaration omitting a criminal history and the Singaporean government later discovers, through its international data cross-referencing systems, that information has been hidden, the consequences are severe and irrevocable. Fraud in the statutory declaration will not only result in the immediate cancellation of the visa, but, under the strict Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, the individual will face a permanent ban from entering the city-state.
