Submission and validation procedure
The Finnish Immigration Service (Migri) requires most of these documents to be uploaded digitally during the initial application on the Enter Finland portal. However, it is imperative that the applicant presents the original documents (especially the passport and official bank statements) during their mandatory in-person appointment for biometric capture. A consular officer will cross-check the veracity of the electronic files with the physical originals.
Critical passport and insurance specifications
Unlike other Schengen Area visas, Migri requires that passport copies include absolutely all pages that have any mark, stamp, or previous visa. This exhaustive review is used to verify travel history and rule out previous entry bans.
Furthermore, for citizens of Canada, Japan, and New Zealand, the health insurance certificate is a mandatory attachment for the application. If this document is omitted or does not cover the 12 uninterrupted months, the system or the processing officer will immediately suspend the procedure until the correct coverage is provided.
Remember that compliance with the return ticket requirement is non-negotiable; you must prove that you have the ticket or the additional capital to guarantee your return at the end of the program.
