The availability of spots for the International Experience Canada (IEC) program varies significantly among participating nations. Because the system operates through rounds of random invitations (draws), the speed at which spots are filled depends directly on the volume of candidates in the pool compared to the annual quota assigned by the Canadian government.

GROUP 1: Very high competition (Fast exhaustion and Low probabilities)
Very high competition. The number of candidates far exceeds the quota, quickly exhausting the possibilities through draws. In these cases, it is common for thousands of people to remain on the waitlist without receiving an invitation during the entire season.
Involved Nationalities: Chile, South Korea, Costa Rica, Spain, France, United Kingdom, and Taiwan.
GROUP 2: Moderate competition (Medium exhaustion and Fair probabilities)
Moderate competition. Spots are distributed gradually through draws and usually last for several months. Candidates have a reasonable probability of being selected if they keep their profile active from the start of the season.
Involved Nationalities: Italy and Japan.
GROUP 3: Low competition (Slow exhaustion and High probabilities)
Low competition. There are enough spots for the demand, so it is very likely to receive an invitation within a few weeks. In most of these countries, the quota is rarely fully exhausted, allowing almost all eligible candidates to obtain their permit.
Involved Nationalities: Germany, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, New Zealand, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, San Marino, and Sweden.
GROUP 4: Exceptional Case
Extremely limited spots. Depending on Recognized Organizations, waitlists often fill up within minutes. This process differs from the standard draw and requires immediate technical coordination by the applicant.
Involved Nationalities: Switzerland.
Stay Planning
Regardless of which group your nationality belongs to, the editorial recommendation is not to make definitive expenses, such as purchasing your flight ticket, until you have received the Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Correspondence confirming your visa approval. The random nature of the draws makes it impossible to predict exactly when a candidate will be invited, so logistical flexibility is essential.
