The Italian government has definitively ratified the work visa plan for the 2026-2028 period, officializing a quota of 164,850 permits for non-EU workers for this year alone. This volume of authorizations is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at meeting labor demand in critical sectors such as construction, tourism, and agriculture through the mechanism known as Decreto Flussi.

However, despite the size of this quota, the application window for the 2026 season has officially closed.
Immigration authorities have confirmed that the applications received far exceeded the limit of 164,850 available spots, leading to the immediate administrative closure of the reception system for this cycle. With the vacancies completely exhausted, the migration and business ecosystem has begun to focus its efforts on the preparation phase for the 2027 call, which will operate under the same multi-year legal framework.
