When planning your application for the Argentina Working Holiday Visa, the question of whether to present health certificates frequently arises. It is essential to clarify that Argentine regulations differ significantly from other European systems; in this country, the requirement for medical examinations is not universal but is governed by specific agreements that prioritize reciprocity with selected nations.

Health requirements by nationality
In most cases, the Argentine Republic relies on the protection provided by the mandatory international medical insurance. However, there are agreements—mainly with Asian nations and France—where health certification is an inescapable step in the process.
France, Japan, and South Korea: For these citizens, the presentation of a medical certificate is a mandatory requirement of the consular file. Yes, it is mandatory to present a medical certificate of physical fitness issued by a health professional in the applicant's country of origin.
Other nationalities (Germany, Australia, Spain, Ireland, New Zealand, the Netherlands, etc.): For the vast majority of Western countries, the applicant is completely exempt. No prior physical examination is required; the traveler's health suitability is considered accredited through the purchase of the mandatory medical insurance covering the entire stay.
Content and validity of the certificate
For cases where the certificate is mandatory (France, Japan, and South Korea), the document must be a "General Physical Fitness" certificate. This must explicitly state that the young person does not suffer from infectious-contagious diseases and is physically and mentally fit to perform the activities of the holiday and work program during the 12-month stay.
It is important to remember that if the original medical certificate is not written in Spanish, it must be processed by a certified public translator so that the Argentine consular authorities can validate it as part of the application file.
The particular case of Australia
Although the regulations were stricter for this agreement in the past, Australian citizens are currently exempt from presenting this medical certificate preventively to enter Argentina. Nevertheless, the system maintains a reserve clause: the consul has the authority to request a medical examination for a specific reason if deemed necessary during the mandatory personal interview.
