The Working Holiday program for Brazil is managed under the temporary residency category VITEM VI. This program is governed by bilateral reciprocity agreements that establish a limit on annual vacancies. Unlike other destinations, the management of the Working Holiday in Brazil stands out for its dynamism and the use of digital platforms for the pre-validation of documents.

Quotas and Opening Calendar

The Brazilian agreements define a maximum number of participants per annual cycle, which usually renews every January 1st. However, the effective opening of quotas is subject to the diplomatic reciprocity calendar and the technical availability of each consular office. It is essential to monitor updates on the Consular Portal of Brazil before starting document collection.

  • Germany: 1,000 annual quotas. Application remains open continuously throughout the cycle until official availability is exhausted.

  • Australia: 500 annual quotas. Both the application and the opening of vacancies are strictly subject to the annual diplomatic reciprocity calendar.

  • South Korea: 300 annual quotas. The application window opens according to the schedule set by the consular office and the availability of vacancies.

  • France: 500 annual quotas. The program operates with continuous application throughout the fiscal year until reaching the limit provided for in the bilateral agreement.

  • New Zealand: 300 annual quotas. The opening of vacancies follows the official calendar defined by the international cooperation program.

Application Modalities: The Hybrid Process

The Federative Republic of Brazil has modernized its consular systems, implementing a hybrid process model that combines digital upload with physical verification. Depending on your nationality, the document delivery modality varies:

  • Germany: A hybrid process that requires the digital upload of documents via the E-consular system. After obtaining prior validation from the authorities, the applicant must send the physical file by postal mail or present it in a personal interview according to the instructions of the corresponding consular office.

  • Australia: A hybrid system with mandatory digital upload through E-consular. Once the digital file is validated, the physical delivery of the dossier proceeds via certified postal mail or through a scheduled in-person appointment.

  • South Korea: A hybrid process initiated with the digital upload through the online form of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Itamaraty). After prior validation, physical delivery of all support documentation at the embassy is mandatory.

  • France: A hybrid modality using digital upload via the official web form. After the validation of the files, scheduling and the physical presentation of original documents at the consulate are unavoidable. During this instance, the possession of the return ticket or the funds to purchase it will be verified as an integral part of the file.

  • New Zealand: A hybrid process managed by the E-consular system. After the embassy grants prior validation, the applicant must send the physical documents following the specific instructions of the diplomatic mission.

General Digital System Steps

Regardless of nationality, the Brazilian system requires the process to be initiated remotely to streamline service at consular posts:

  1. RER Form Registration: Uploading data, passport, photo, and signature to generate the SCV receipt.

  2. E-Consular Platform: Validation of requirements by the consular officer before the physical stage.

  3. Fee Payment: The visa cost must be paid following the instructions of the specific office, usually via bank transfer or money order.
