Unlike other destinations such as the Netherlands, where originals in various European languages are often accepted, the Argentine State establishes Spanish as the only official language allowed for legal and immigration procedures.

Translation Requirements by Nationality
The need to translate documentation depends exclusively on the original language of the issuing country. It is essential to respect the symmetry of these requirements to avoid delays in processing:
Spain: Does not require document translation. However, it is important to highlight that the Hague Apostille is mandatory on the original document for it to have legal validity before the Argentine authorities.
Other Nationalities (Germany, Australia, South Korea, etc.): Yes, they require mandatory translation. All original documents must be duly apostilled and have a public translation into Spanish carried out by a certified professional registered in Argentina.
The Role of the Certified Public Translator
In Argentina, translations for immigration procedures cannot be informal or carried out by independent translators without local accreditation. The system requires translations to be performed by a Certified Public Translator (Traductor Público Nacional Matriculado) within Argentine territory.
For the translation to have full legal validity, the professional must have their signature legalized by the corresponding Association of Public Translators in their jurisdiction. This step ensures that the translated document is officially recognized by both the consulate and the National Directorate of Migration.
The Hague Apostille: An Indispensable Prerequisite
Before proceeding with any translation, the original document (such as criminal record certificates or academic degrees) must have the Hague Apostille. This international seal is an essential prerequisite for the document's authenticity to be recognized by Argentine authorities. Without the apostille, the document lacks legal validity outside its country of origin and, therefore, cannot be processed by a public translator.
Documentation and Return Ticket
When presenting your file with all the required translations and apostilles, authorities will verify compliance with other entry requirements. Among them, it is mandatory to prove that you hold a confirmed return ticket to your country of origin or habitual residence, or failing that, demonstrate that you have sufficient additional funds to purchase one at the end of your 12-month stay.
