The accreditation of an irreproachable personal conduct is an inescapable requirement for all foreigners wishing to obtain a temporary residency in Chile under the youth mobility program. The National Migration Service (SERMIG) requests this document to ensure that participants do not have records that compromise security or public order during their stay.

Requirement and origin of the document
The submission of a Criminal Record Certificate is mandatory for all nationalities that have a Vacation and Work agreement with Chile. This document must be issued by the official competent authority of the applicant's country of origin.
In those cases where the interested party has resided in a third country during the last 5 years, it is also mandatory to submit the criminal record certificate from that nation to cover the conduct history required by Chilean immigration authorities.
Validity and legalization requirements
For the certificate to be accepted on the digital application platform, it must comply with strict technical criteria for timing and international validity:
Limited validity: The issuance date of the document cannot exceed 60 days of age at the time of the visa application. Certificates exceeding this period will be considered invalid and will lead to the rejection of the process.
International validation: The original document must be duly apostilled under the Hague Convention. If the issuing country is not part of said convention, the certificate must be legalized through the corresponding Chilean consular route.
Language: According to SERMIG's general rule, if the certificate is issued in a language other than Spanish or English, it must be accompanied by an official translation.
It is the applicant's responsibility to verify that the uploaded document is legible and that the apostille is verifiable to avoid delays in the analysis of the file by immigration analysts.
To obtain details on the format of the certificates according to each country, you can consult the official Working Holiday Visa Chile section.
