The preparation of the file is the most critical step to ensure the approval of temporary residency in Chile. The National Migration Service (SERMIG) requires all documentation to be uploaded to its digital platform legibly and in compliance with international validation standards.

General requirements for most nationalities
For citizens of Germany, Austria, Canada, Colombia, South Korea, Denmark, France, Hungary, Ireland, Iceland, Japan, Luxembourg, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, and Sweden, the folder must contain:
Copy of Passport: It must have at least 1 year of validity from the time of application.
Recent photograph: In color, with a white background and in digital format (JPG or PNG).
Official Criminal Record Certificate: Duly apostilled or legalized, with a maximum age of 60 days since issuance.
Official Medical Certificate: A document signed by a health professional certifying good health and the absence of infectious or contagious diseases.
Health insurance: An international policy with 12-month coverage that includes a sanitary and remains repatriation clause.
Economic solvency: Recent bank statements or records in the holder's name to demonstrate the required funds.
Specific requirements for Australian citizens
Australian applicants must present the general documentation mentioned above, with the addition of a linguistic validation:
Language accreditation: It is mandatory to present a document or perform a consular interview that demonstrates a basic level of the Spanish language to facilitate cultural integration.
Professional Internship Agreement for Switzerland
It is fundamental to remember that the agreement with Switzerland is not a regular Working Holiday. The requirements reflect its nature as a professional exchange:
Base documentation: Copy of the passport, photograph, and apostilled criminal record certificate.
Professional Degree: Copy of the full university or technical studies diploma.
Updated Curriculum Vitae: Detailing the academic and professional career.
Job offer: Employment contract or acceptance letter for an internship directly related to the studied profession.
Medical insurance: International coverage for the duration of the internship.
Translation and validation of documents
According to SERMIG's cross-cutting regulations, any document issued in a language other than Spanish or English must mandatorily include its official translation. Failure to comply with this rule may lead to the rejection of the file.
Travel logistics and flight ticket reservation
Regardless of nationality, visa approval is subject to the presentation of a round-trip flight ticket reservation. In case the applicant does not yet have a confirmed return ticket, they must demonstrate the possession of sufficient additional economic funds to guarantee the purchase of said ticket to leave the national territory at the end of the 12-month period.
Academic offer and personal development
Having educational documentation duly translated and apostilled is not only a requirement for certain agreements but also facilitates access to the local academic offer. Participants can take advantage of their stay to take language courses or short-term technical specialization programs, provided these activities are secondary to the purpose of the trip.
